Shayne Moore, M.A., is an author, speaker, and teacher. She is the Associate Director of Operations at the Humanitarian Disaster Institute at Wheaton College Graduate School. Shayne co-founded Redbud Writers Guild, NFP and over the years served the guild as President, Vice President of Communications, and Editor-in-Chief of The Redbud Post. Her book, Refuse To Do Nothing: Finding Your Power to Abolish Modern Day Slavery (Intervarsity Press), received Resource of the Year, (Outreach, 2014). Her first book, Global Soccer Mom; Changing the World is Easier Than You Think (Zondervan), chronicles her work with the ONE Campaign and the HIV/AIDS pandemic. With an Master of Arts in Theology, and with varied interests, Shayne holds a Certificate in the Professional Program in Screenwriting at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. Moore has two books forthcoming, The Human Trafficking Handbook; A Biblical and Best-Practice Strategy for the Church Today (Intervarsity Press) and Halftime & Women; How to Find Peace and Purpose for Your Next Season (Tyndale House).
Shayne was an original member of the ONE Campaign and was a non-celebrity spokesperson for the campaign. She is an experienced speaker and activist who has spoken to groups all over the world to raise awareness for the marginalized and about global poverty and human trafficking. Shayne has traveled widely to places such as the Philippines, Honduras, and Africa to see first-hand the effects of poverty and exploitation on women and children.
Bono, the lead singer of Irish rock band U2 and founder of the ONE Campaign, endorsed Moore’s first book saying, “Politicians watch out. Shayne Moore is an unstoppable force.”
The Humanitarian Disaster Institute at Wheaton College Graduate School is the first faith-based academic disaster research center in the country. Our mission is to help the church prepare and care for a disaster-filled world. We use our research to create resources and events geared toward students, survivors, helpers, and researchers.
